Kicked Off a Family Plan in 2026? Here Is What Still Works
Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and Spotify now verify your home address. Here is why members get removed, what never works, and the legal fix from 3.99 EUR.
It usually happens in the middle of an episode. The app signs you out, asks you to confirm your household, and the person who pays the bill is 400 kilometres away. In 2026 this is not a bug. It is the product working as designed.
Short answer: you cannot fix it by turning the router off and on. You can keep ad-free YouTube, Netflix in 4K, Disney+ and Spotify Premium with people outside your home, but each person now needs their own seat on the plan instead of borrowing one.
What each platform actually checks
The wording differs, the mechanism does not. Every household check looks at where your device connects from, how often, and whether that matches the address on the plan.
- Netflix. A member outside the household is asked to verify, then pushed towards a paid extra member slot. Repeated mismatches end in removal.
- YouTube Premium. Family plan members must live at the same address, and the address is re-checked. A member removed for this reason cannot rejoin the same plan immediately.
- Disney+. Password sharing outside the household has been restricted since 2025, with an add-on for one extra person.
- Spotify. The Duo and Family plans are tied to a shared address confirmed on the account.
The three fixes that do not work
Turning off location, or using a VPN to look local. It changes one signal out of several. Sign-in patterns, device lists and payment country stay the same, and repeated mismatches are what triggers a removal in the first place.
Buying a cheap "lifetime account" from a marketplace. The password gets changed, or the card behind the account fails, and there is nobody to ask. Every refund complaint we have read in this market starts here.
Paying the extra member fee for four people. It is legitimate, and it costs almost as much as separate plans, which defeats the point.
The fix that does work: one seat each
A family plan is a set of seats. Buying your own seat, on a plan that exists and is paid for, is not a workaround: it is what the plan is for. Each person gets their own profile, their own history and recommendations, and their own login.
What that costs, against the official individual price:
| Service | Official | One seat |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix Premium 4K | 21.99 EUR | 4.99 EUR |
| Spotify Premium | 11.99 EUR | 3.99 EUR |
| Disney+ Premium | 11.99 EUR | 4.39 EUR |
| YouTube Premium | 12.99 EUR | 4.69 EUR |
| HBO Max | 9.99 EUR | 4.49 EUR |
| ChatGPT Plus | 23.00 EUR | 9.00 EUR |
How it works in practice
You pick a service and a length. You pay by card through Stripe. Your access appears in your Subify space: the account email, your profile, and the PIN when the service uses one. Some services sign you in with a one-time code sent by email instead of a password, and that code appears in your space when you ask for it.
Two rules matter more than anything else on the page. Do not change the account email or password: it breaks the seat for everyone on it, and it is the one situation we cannot repair. And keep the renewal on if you want the price you paid: a promotional price stays yours until you stop the renewal yourself.
If access stops working and cannot be restored, you get a replacement, or your money back. That is the whole guarantee, in one sentence, because a longer one would be marketing.
Which service to move first
If your YouTube family plan was broken up, start there: the removal is permanent on that plan and the replacement is the cheapest of the four. If you pay 21.99 EUR for Netflix Premium, that single line saves you 204 EUR a year on its own.
Full comparison and the yearly totals are in the real cost of streaming in 2026. Per service: Netflix, YouTube Premium, Disney+, Spotify.
